Most colleges and universities require students to be adequately insured during registration as a student full time. American students may be eligible for coverage under their parents’ insurance and can not take out additional insurance. International students must either enroll in college-sponsored plan or look for health insurance for international students elsewhere. Often, coverage outside is cheaper than the college-sponsored plan, and is much more flexible.
